Friday's Dose of Brilliance

so for years...well, maybe not years...but lots and lots of months I did a post every Friday called Friday's Dose of Brilliance* and I'd post a funny or useful website I'd found and obsessed over in the last week. I'm not really ready to fully commit to doing that once a week but I am fully committed to posting one solitary post right now.

* the first several weeks of that regular posting I spelled brilliance wrong. The irony is not lost on me friend. Don't bother going back and looking, I fixed them.

Today's site is #myfriendsaremarried and it's hilarious. I just spent 30 minutes reading it from start to finish and so should you. It's friday, your boss won't care.

so, i'm married. also i have kids. if this is news to you i'm wondering if today is your first time reading my blog and how on earth you found it. seriously, i'm curious so tell me. Anyway, most of my friends are married - not all but most. Most of them have kids too. It's just the point we're at. I hope those that aren't married/have kids dont think of me the way this site does. I'm sure they don't. Right guys? right? guys?

Friday Dose of Brilliance

Since it's been way, way too long since I've done a Friday Dose of Brilliance post here I decided that today I'll post two. No telling when I'll post another one so soak it up! BTW - if you have a site that you find hilarious let me know, I'm sure I will too and we all need a reason to use the internet even more than we already do!

The horse had heroically made it over the highest peaks of Book Mountain, but unfortunately faced a treacherous descent before he could reach his companion.

Catalog Living - Hilarious Captions set to catalog photos explaining the story behind the pics. A look at the exciting lives of the people who live in our catalogs. Trust me, it's hilarious.

Kate Middleton for the Win - OMG. I love this. I can't wait to watch this wedding so for now this is helping me be patient. Enjoy and Happy Friday!!

Friday's Dose of Brilliance

It's back!! Thanks to an incredible site that Carly sent to me - Friday's Dose of Brilliance is back, at least for this week. If you've got a few hours to burn, check out previous Friday posts here.
If not, be sure to check out Brides Who Mean Business. I can't even explain it except to say that it's got sarcasm, wedding pictures and ettiquette rolled into one neat little package and i'm in love with it. In.Love.With.It.

overkill. times a million.

Friday's Dose of Brilliance

I was a little late to the Facebook party. I've been on a little over a year I suppose, but still. I hung out with Myspace way past it's prime and then resisted Facebook for all the reasons I hated Myspace. Now I'm obsessed and spend way, way too much time on there during the day.

My friend Marcie posted this site on her facebook today and I love it. The site The Oatmeal has always been funny, but this article is amazing. I think I may sadly fall into one or two of these categories but whatever. Do you fall into any of them? I bet you do!

Enjoy and have a great weekend. :)

Friday Dose of Brilliance

Wow, it's been a long time since I've done a Friday post like this. I thought I'd run out of hilarious sites to feature here, but alas, I was wrong! Tis the season for creepy, creepy Santa Clause photo ops. I posted about this last year which I still believe is one of the funniest things I've ever seen, but this site has a whole mess of these beauties. Enjoy Sketchy Santas!

BTW-we're taking Connor to see Santa this weekend. He's obsessed with his this year, so it's doubtful that I'll get my long hoped for pic of him hating on Santa. Don't judge me, they are just way more funny when they are horrible. I'll post pics next week for sure.

Super Duper Friday Giveaway!

The Promotional Team at CSN Baby contacted me and asked if I'd do a giveaway on my blog. What?!? I was shocked but really excited to help them giveaway a few quality items. After thinking it over for about 3.2 seconds I decided Hell yeah, i'd love to play! These great pieces would make amazing shower gifts so even if you don't have kids, enter anyway!

I've been doing lots of online window shopping since we found out we are expecting barnes baby #2. There are so many really, really cute things out there-especially for babies and kiddos-love the nursery decor items. Even more cool stuff than when Connor was born.

I'm really not a fan of the characters and other kitchy stuff so many shops are peddling, so I really loved that CSN Baby had fun, interesting items that don't have Thomas the Train on them...no offense to anyone with an affinity for trains. hooray, trains. Here are the items that are up for grabs - and remember the winner of the giveaway will win all items:

Super cute set of 4 Giggles burp cloths. Moms out there know that burp cloths are used for everything and you can truly never have too many. If I owned these great looking cloths, they'd be the ones I took with me when I left the house. I'd leave the boring ones at home and grab these on my way out the door.

Set of two lovely hanging picture frames. Aren't the colors just perfect? These frames each hold a 4x6 photo and I'm really loving the design and colors. These would make amazing gifts...unless you wanted to keep them for yourself!

Now the fine print :)
*due to shipping charges, the giveaway is only open to US Residents.
*The drawing is open as of the time/date of this posting and will close at noon (az time) on Friday, November 27th
*All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this post. I'll do a random drawing and the winner will be mailed the items.

That's it, pretty simple! Please spread the word so friends/family can also enter to win. Everyone loves free stuff--especially free stuff that's cute and makes great gifts.

Friday's Dose of Brilliance

WTF do you have kids - warning. lots of inappropriateness on today's site...but...that's what makes it funny. Thanks to my friend Lisa for the great recommendation of this site! It's pretty self-explanitory...funny/disturbing pics of people who probably shouldn't have procreated.

Friday's Dose of Brilliance

No First Date - My friend Ashley forwarded this to me thinking it would be great for a Friday's Dose of Brilliance post. I must agree. I think I find it even funnier after working at the dating service for nearly 7 long, long years. Enjoy!

Fridays Dose of Brilliance

One of my best, besties Patricia found this site. And since she's such a cool chick she sent me some of her favorites from it. The site has an interesting concept that I really like. You send in a saying...like a one liner and they create a design from it. The guy, Sam Brown...aka Adam Culbert also has books of his fun drawings and often makes them into shirts and other stuff. The drawings are done in photoshop I think and there's nothing complex about them, but I like.
I really like this one...You are no longer a supervisor

Patricia likes this one...I can't control you but I can love you

Friday's Dose of Brilliance

Today's post is kinda a three in one deal. I love FML (F My Life) and GMH (Gives Me Hope) but never posted it here for some reason. Recently a coworker, knowing my love for funny websites, sent me a new site that I'd never heard of. It's similar to FML, but I think it's way, way funnier. It's My Life Is Average (MLIA) and is full of hilarious, average happenings. This is one of my more recent favorites:
Today, I locked myself out of my house. Knowing that my parents had hidden a key in the backyard, but not knowing where it was, I invited a couple friends over and turned it into a treasure hunt. I gave the guy who found it a piece of cake. MLIA
Here's a quick sample from FML:
Today, I received my passport in the mail. They got my birthdate wrong. Then I picked up my birth certificate that I had sent in with the application. Turns out my parents have been celebrating my birthday on the wrong day for 16 years. FML
And lastly a sample from GMH:
I work in a childcare center and, while telling the children what to play with, a teacher inadvertently knocked over a young girl's blocks. A boy from across the room yelled "HEY!" and he ran over to where the teacher and the girl where. He started setting her blocks back up for her. His care GMH.
(Warning: do NOT spend time on GMH if you are at work...the stuff will make you cry so you'll look like an idiot. Lesson Learned)

Friday's Dose of Brilliance - but different

This weekend is all about Chi Omega recruitment for me. I loved rush when I was in college, but I love it even more now that I'm an alumnae. It's so great watching the college girls meet potential sisters and fall in love with them.

Those of you that I'm personally close to know that I'm pretty involved with my college sorority and the local alumnae group. I have been a Chapter Advisor for the ASU collegiate chapter for a couple years now and I really love that. Getting to know the women who are continuing all of our traditions and sisterhood has been amazing. On an alumnae level, I spent the last year as Membership Chair, recruiting new members to the alumnae chapter here in Phoenix. I also lead a book club for our group and serve as Active (collegiate) Relations Chair. So, clearly I'm kinda involved. Just this year, I was elected President of the Alumnae Chapter and retained the rest of my positions other than Membership Chair which my 'grand big sis' Jamie took over.

I'm really loving being so involved with the sorority. Of course, I had a blast while in college doing the whole sorority thing, but I think I enjoy it on a completely different level as an alumna. When we were in college, I wasn't too involved beyond the parties, rush, meetings, philanthropies, etc. I didn't do the leadership thing which is strange for me. I had a long term bf already (hubs now!) and worked full time while in school. I think that I'm striving to make up for that now that I'm alum. Now...i'm uber-involved.

My great friend and sister Jill nominated me to attend the Alumnae Chapter Leadership Conference being held at the Chi Omega Executive Headquarters in Memphis. I submitted my application and then held my breath, crossed my fingers and waited for an answer. They were only selecting 16 women from all over the US so as much as I wanted to go, I didn't have really high expectations of being selected. I received an email a couple weeks ago telling me Congrats! You've been selected to attend the ACLC in Memphis! SO EXCITED. I never went to Nationals as a collegiate but I've seen amazing photos and I am really looking forward to the opportunity. It's being held in the beginning of October and my flight is booked! I plan to take lots and lots of photos so you can expect to read all about it coming up. I'm so excited to visit this place!

Here are a few sites worth checking out! Have a wonderful long holiday weekend.

Fridays Dose of Brilliance

Dear Keiko,
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Lindsay

Keiko thought this site would be great for today's post and I really must concur. All my really close friends know how much I hate Walmart. I hate everything about it. Seriously folks, it gives me visible anxiety to be in one...in fact, I didn't enter a Walmart for nearly 5 years until just under a year ago when I broke down and purchased a cooler there. I'll spare you the details here and just tell you that the cooler was twenty bucks cheaper than it was at Target and I just couldn't fight the obvious discount. Since then, I've slowly allowed myself to make a trip here or there but today's site really just affirms my feelings on the place. That's it, Walmart ban is back full force.

Anyway, so here is today's site: People of Walmart. It's brand new...as in it just started yesterday I think so get ready to love it.

Fridays Dose of Brilliance

Sleeveface - this site isn't really the sort of stuff I typically post on here but something about it draws me in. it's submitted photos of people holding up album sleeves to their own body. you know? there's really no way for me to explain this that does it justice. check it out please :)

Friday's Dose of Brilliance

This is photo bomb - warning! this site is not for the modest or those who blush easily. there are a few pics in there that may offend, but i swear it's so funny. The point of the site is to post pics where there are funny things in the background of your pic that you didn't notice until later. Maybe you didn't notice the chick behind you in the shot throwing up mad gang signs...whatever. Really funny. Happy Friday!

Fridays Dose of Brilliance

Don't Even Reply - You know how craigslist is full of idiots? Idiots who post ridiculous things? Things that no one wants? Well, the guy who runs this site replies to postings with hilarious replies and then posts the back and forth messages on this site. Check it out. I think my favorite one so far is this one. Enjoy :)

Also, be sure to read The Shaniqua Chronicles, parts 1-3 on there too. awesome.

Friday's Dose of Brilliance

No hilarious site today, just a question and a couple of links...

Is anyone else planning on dressing up like a cow and heading to Chick-fil-a for a free meal? No? Oh. Sure, yeah me either.

If you were...here is a link for a free cow costume you can print off and wear into your local Chick-fil-a and here are all the details.

Have a great weekend I'm off to get my free meal purchase lunch in a completely typical way :)
