Sometimes things get serious

So I have something going on now that is kinda concerning, somewhat serious. I haven’t really been wanting to talk to friends about it yet, so I figured, hey that’s what a blog is for right? To get thoughts, feelings, concerns out there and off your chest? Well, that’s what it’s there for today my friends.

Two weeks ago, we took connor in for an appointment to his ped. The appointment was just for a cold and pretty routine. During the appointment, I remembered some things that had happened over the last few weeks and brought it up to the dr. I told her that his lips had turned blue once and that on more than one occasion, his hands and feet were freezing and red/blue while the rest of his body was warm and normal color. Typically when I bring something up to her, she hardly reacts and tells me that it’s normal, typical and generally nothing to worry about. This time was different. She looked concerned. She told us that she wanted to consult with the other pediatrician at the practice and get us a referral to a specialist. I immediately thought omg it’s his heart. Circulation=heart=Terrified mom. She said that he’s overall so healthy and that she’s sure it’s nothing, but let’s get it checked out anyway. This was sometime the week between Christmas and New Years. So, we got a call and our appointment is scheduled for the 19th of January. The Pediatric Cardiologist office is actually located at Phoenix Children’s Hospital which scares me even more. No parent ever wants to have anything to do with that hospital. Even driving past it on the 51 on my daily drive to and from work is enough to cause my eyes to tear up—and that was before all this heart business. Being a parent is scary business folks. Scary business.

When you are pregnant and hear all of the scary things that can happen, you think all of that goes away once you have the baby. Then you have this little precious thing and you realize your worries are only just starting. Linds, we'll be thinking of you guys on the 19th. Great thing about little kiddos is they grow out of things and heal so quickly! Hugs and kisses...

thanks keiko. i appreciate it and it's nice to hear. i'm trying to not worry about it because he's strong and wild and full of energy...i'm sure he's fine and the isolated incidents are past.

OMG, I hope you're doing ok. I had no idea. I can't even pretend to know what you're going through, but I think Keiko summed it up pretty well. He is such a ball of energy and I would think that if it were something with his heart he would be somewhat lethargic. The 19th... you'll be on my mind.

I'm sorry you are going through this right now. My thoughts and prayers are with you and little Connor. Give him extra love and kisses (which I'm sure you already do) and please, please keep me updated.

katy-thanks. i think maybe i didn't want to talk about it because maybe that makes it more real...no idea. i'm with you though-i think he's going to be just fine. :)

tif-thanks for the well wishes. it's taking forever to get to the 19th but i'll surely keep you updated.

It really is scary when our kids get sick and I completely agree about your thoughts about Phoenix Children's. But you have a great doctor who is doing everything right and Connor has a great mom who knew to tell the doctor about it. There are so many moms that would have thought their kids were just cold. Certainly my thoughts and prayers are with you guys through this!
